Novelium

Built by a Writer Who Needed It

Sometimes the best tools come from personal necessity. This is the story of how Novelium came to be.

The Origin Story

Founder

I'm a cybersecurity expert by trade. My days are spent thinking about threats, vulnerabilities, and how AI is reshaping the security landscape in ways most people can't even imagine yet.

But I had a story burning inside me - a novel about what cybersecurity and AI are going to look like in the future. The kind of story that could only come from someone who's lived in the trenches of this industry, who's seen the patterns emerging, who knows where we're headed.

So I started writing. And like every writer, I quickly discovered that keeping track of everything - timelines, character details, plot threads, technical accuracy - was incredibly difficult. Did my protagonist learn about that vulnerability in chapter 3 or chapter 5? Wednesday happened twice in three days. My main character was being shot at and talked down to at the same time in two different places.

I tried everything. Spreadsheets where I'd lose track of which tab had the current timeline. Note apps with hundreds of scattered character details. Whiteboards that looked like a detective's conspiracy board.

By outline v8, nothing made sense. I had at least two different books in this book. Had I cut that subplot? Was that character arc still relevant? The tools weren't the problem - I needed something that understood narrative, not just data.

So I built something. At first, it was just for me - a little tool to help track my characters, timeline, plot threads. I needed to see the whole story at once, to understand what I'd created.

And I got hooked. I got so absorbed in building Novelium that my novel took a backseat. The novel is still in progress. But now, at least, when I return to it, I can actually see what I'm working with.

I started sharing what I'd built with my writer friends - most of whom I'd met through tabletop roleplaying games, where we'd spent years collaborating on stories together. They got it immediately. They'd been living the same nightmare: the tangled timelines, the forgotten character details, the plot threads that just... disappeared.

The reactions were intense. ALL CAPS intense. Writers would see Novelium catch a timeline inconsistency they'd completely missed and just... explode with excitement. 2am Discord messages. Lengthy emails about how long they'd been looking for exactly this. I've never gotten bad feedback on Novelium. Not once. Just writer after writer going "Where has this been?"

Every writer I showed it to said the same thing: "I need this."

That's how Novelium was born.

Why a Cybersecurity Expert?

You might wonder what cybersecurity has to do with writing. Here's what I've learned: both are about tracking complex systems where small details matter enormously.

In security, I track how attackers think - their motivations, their patterns, the moment they'll exploit a weakness. In fiction, I track how characters think - their motivations, their patterns, the moments they'll make choices that change everything.

Both require seeing the whole system at once. Both require catching small inconsistencies before they become major problems. A missed detail in security can mean a breach. A missed detail in fiction can mean a reader closing the book.

That's what Novelium does: it helps you see your story as a system, catch the details that matter, and fix the inconsistencies before your readers find them.

Our Mission

Too many great stories die in drawers. Not because they aren't good enough, but because writing is hard and lonely work. Because keeping track of everything feels overwhelming. Because somewhere around outline v8, you lose the thread entirely and it's easier to just... stop.

Our mission is to make sure that doesn't happen. To be the editor in your pocket, the companion wherever you go. To make sure you never have to write alone.

Novelium isn't just about catching errors. It's about giving you the confidence to finish. It's about having someone who understands your story, who knows your characters, who can help you see what you might have missed. It's about turning the solitary struggle of writing into a partnership.

Because every story that stays in a drawer is a story the world never gets to experience. Every writer who gives up is a voice that goes unheard. We're here to change that.

Your story deserves to be told. And you deserve to have support along the way. That's why Novelium exists.
